Location:
Lake Cook Road: From Raupp Boulevard to Hastings Lane; Buffalo Grove Road: From Church Road to north of Bernard Drive; IL Route 83 (McHenry Road): From Buffalo Grove Town Center to Weiland Road; Weiland Road: From Woodstone Drive to IL Route 83, with a new extension past IL Route 83 to Buffalo Grove Road.
Scope:
Major infrastructure initiative led by the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Lake County, and the villages of Buffalo Grove and Wheeling.
Key Work / Improvements:
- Roadway Widening: One additional lane in each direction and dedicated turn lanes at intersections
- Traffic Flow Enhancements: New permanent traffic signals and improved intersection designs
- Pedestrian & Bicycle Infrastructure: ADA-compliant crosswalks, sidewalk improvements, and new pedestrian push-buttons
- Stormwater & Utility Upgrades: Storm sewer improvements, water system upgrades, noise abatement walls, street lighting with LED fixtures
- Environmental & Aesthetic Enhancements: Landscaping and beautification, improved air quality through reduced congestion
- Bridge construction and modification over Buffalo Creek
