Harlem Avenue (IL 43) and 95th Street (US 12/20), spanning Bridgeview, Oak Lawn, and Chicago Ridge.

Scope:

Reconstruction and improvement of the Harlem Avenue and 95th Street interchange, including bridge rehabilitation and roadway resurfacing.

Key Work / Improvements:

  • Reconstruction and resurfacing of Harlem Avenue over 95th Street between 92nd Place and 99th Place
  • Interchange reconfiguration from tight cloverleaf to partial cloverleaf design
  • Bridge rehabilitation over CSX Railroad and 95th Street
  • Resurfacing of 95th Street from I-294 to New England Avenue
  • Installation of new storm sewers and ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps
  • Modernized traffic signals including two new signals on Harlem Avenue
  • Roadway widening with a third westbound thru lane and 18-foot-wide auxiliary bypass lane
  • Vertical profile adjustment of 95th Street lowered by approximately one foot at Harlem Avenue
  • New roadway lighting and stormwater infrastructure including a new pump station
  • Temporary ramps and lane closures for traffic staging
  • Maintained pedestrian access to businesses throughout the work zone
